The Growth Of Raleigh Youth Rugby

By Mattie Knight

The rugby scene has become well established all around the world. This was big in the Southern hemisphere in particular, but it has now spread at a rapid rate to other parts as well as the United States. Raleigh youth rugby has earned a name for itself and has grown from strength to strength with many young eager players participating in the game.

Any player who is experienced in the rugby scene will tell you that it is the coach in Raleigh, NC that makes a big difference in the sport. This is the person who is able to bring out the best in a player. They are able to assist in certain skills and talents. They are also able to motivate the players, both with physical tasks and on an emotional level.

One has to work as a team in this sport. One can't rely on one very good player to do the work. Everyone has to do their job. There are different positions involved as players move up towards the try line. Some players are fast, and others have more strength. Some are blessed with their kicking abilities and are good in the line out. All of this adds up to the team work.

In a match, during half time, for example a coach will be able to talk to the team and tell them what they are doing wrong and how they can improve. Some players go through phases where they may be feeling despondent and it is up to the coach to work with them in order to provide motivation.

Many countries are not used to this game and see it as a dangerous sport. However, there are many rules that players have to stick to. Coaches make sure that the youngsters stick to these rules early on, so they don't get out of hand later on and become injured. Players will be aware that they are not allowed to tackle a player without the ball, for example.

Sometimes a player will be more emotional and this can affect the game. When they are thinking with their heart instead of their head, the play will become rough. A good coach will teach a young player to focus and to gain mental strength. They will also teach them about discipline, making sure that there are no fights that break up on the field.

Discipline is needed during this time because it is a sport where one has to remain focused and you can't just do this as a hobby. You have to make sure that you are eating the right foods, you have to go to the gym, and you have to attend practice sessions. You have to wake up early and this means older children are not going to be going out on weekends with their friends. They will have to sacrifice this. However, it is a healthy lifestyle and one can meet a lot of friends, which will tell you that it is a great way of socializing.

Parents also need to be committed and encourage their children who are participating in the sport. It is obviously important because they may have to lift them to practice sessions. They have to wake up early in order to go to gym. It is also a healthy way of socializing with others.
