Explore A Different Kind Of Holiday With Boat Rentals In Bermuda

By Alta Alexander

A holiday in Bermuda that does not include a period out at sea could be compared to going on safari and ignoring all the wild animals. Boat rentals in Bermuda make it possible to transform a vacation into a blissful memory. So to wet the appetite, here are just some of the many things to do on the water.

Many an angler will recall the way the body reacts and the adrenal rush to the thrill of a massive fish on the hook of their fishing tackle. People who only fish occasionally will testify as to how their time fishing the ocean became the top point of their holidays. With some excellent fishing close to shore, sailing times of only 45 minutes are common. From an enormous aquatic population, tuna, wahoo and marlin seem to attract anglers with their mystery and reportedly are the most challenging. Safety is as important as a good catch so the reputation of a charter service is important.

Traditional lovers of sail power may prefer a yachting experience. Possibly a calmer and more sedate method to explore the many islands and inlets. There are 181 islands in the archipelago to be accurate and probably as many rental agencies. Yacht rentals can be arranged over periods from a day to months and craft range from kayaks and dinghies to ocean crossing trimarans, with or without crews.

Most companies require those who want to go it alone to prove their qualifications and attend an initial orientation briefing of local conditions and hazards. Due to the potential hazards, less experienced sailors are recommended to at least employ the services of a local skipper. The wonderful thing about sailing is that it is the ideal way to combine different activities. It is just so easy to lower anchor and stop for a swim, a spot of fishing, snorkeling, diving, or for that matter just stop for lunch.

Not all boating experiences involve being on or in the water. Parasailing is a unique way of getting a birds eye view of secluded beaches, turquoise water and abundant reefs by being suspended beneath a specially designed canopy and towed behind a motor cruiser. Tandem rides are also possible with the norm being to fly between 500 and 600 hundred feet and unless you request a dip, participants need not even get wet. Parasail operators are less common so more planning and advanced reservations are needed but the panorama and thrill are well worth the extra effort.

Underwater sports such as snorkeling and scuba diving are one of the main draw cards of the island. There is no shortage of shipwrecks and reefs for experienced divers with one of the most famous being South West Breaker. Teeming with marine life, more like an aquarium, divers report of barracudas in such large quantities that they block out the sunlight. Once again safety is paramount.

Neither should people feel this is something restricted to experienced divers. Dive lessons from highly qualified instructors can swiftly get trainees up and running, and with some training time spent in live reef conditions such as Sandy Hole, reduces time consuming pool based instruction.

Renting boats opens up a whole new kind of holiday experience and the activities mentioned only scratch the surface. Add to these the immensely popular water skiing, board sports, kayaking, for even more vacation adventures.
