You also need to watch the wheels or rims. Actually, the rims or wheels hold the tires and give stability, efficiency and smoothness while riding. Your bike cannot move without these rims because they allow a consistent connection between the tires and the road surfaces. Cleaning the rims is essential by using alcohol and a dry cloth. Check the wheels for possible dents, scrapes, nicks and other damage.

It is also crucial to check the drive train. The drive train of a bicycle includes the chain ring, pedals, chain and ear cassette. This is important because it transfers certain power source generated by the legs of a rider to the rear wheel, This transfer the source that gives force to move the bike.

It is also important to check the tires. These tires should fit around the wheels or rims to protect and improve their functions. Tires often offer a great source of friction on the road that allow your travel time over surfaces such as gravel, pavement and dirt. Aside from that, they also form a flexible cushion to have a comfortable ride.

Sixth, check the cables. Most cables are tightly coiled metal wires surrounded in most plastic housing. They are connected to each brake and shifter to the handlebars and brake pads. Cables are actually connected to all shifters that could assist the moving of the chain from one gear to another through the derailleur while those connected to the brakes aid to stop the bicycle when the lever of the handlebars is used.

Finally, adding lubricant is another thing to do. Actually, oil lubricant coat the chains and other components of the drive trains. It is beneficial to the gear and last for longer period of time and work effectively. Lube can reduce possible accumulation of dirt and grime which helps maximize the performance as well as the function of the moving parts.
