Learn About Whale Watching Channel Islands

By Shawn Hunter

Whales are known to have a memory of the path they used since they were born, they mostly use the same path throughout their lives and will only change it if it proves to be dangerous for them or makes them uncomfortable due to many distractions. This observation makes many people fascinated with the whales and makes them want to have a close encounter with the animals. Their massive sizes also attract a huge crowd as they want to see them gracefully moving thus Whale watching Channel Islands.

Off shore sites at the Santa Barbara makes this channel island a watchers paradise. This is because they have the privilege of having to watch the humpback whale from close proximity of their migratory route and also the privilege of seeing for themselves first-hand the behavior of these mammals in its natural habitat. The Barbara stretch offers a nostalgic view that most watcher would dream of.

In the Marine sanctuary of Anacapa there exist the killer whales, also known as the orcas. Its known for its beauty and the beast behavior. This is because it has a very attractive outlook comprising of black and white coats yet its a stealthy killer, it has been recorded that the orca is among the only few whales that come to shore in order to get their catch. By nature it is a smart animal and great hunter.

The blue one, is the largest mammal roaming the sea, by nature its a calm giant and it rarely attacks any other animal and to make things more complex it is a herbivore thus no flesh eating, more often than not this leviathan mammal is viewed in the Santa Cruz stretch of the sea. And in many occasions it is not seen in one but in a whole pack this is because they travel in whole packs or in some instances a mother and calf.

For any watcher the channel national island park is a paradise that evokes emotion whenever mentioned. This is because it contains not only the common culprits from the orcas blue whales and humpback whale but also has the rare grey whale that is a common site to all who visit this is because it gracefully embraces the waters of the park and is a common site in the locality.

Since time in memorial there has always existed these channels but long ago they were not really viewed as channels but they were viewed as points where one could hunt down the whales for food, this notion slowly changed as time progressed and slowly but surely the people started embracing the culture of this activity which eventually turned out become an economic activity in future.

Many people encamp along the migratory routes as they do not want to miss a chance to have a glimpse of these giants. On the other hand, scientists have been known to follow these sea giants to all destinations across the sea. They have also been allowed to touch and even treat the giants at the Island channel.

The whales should be protected as the form a vital part in our eco systems and also form a vital part in our economic lives. This is beauty that mother nature has provided and therefore everyone should play part in protecting and preserving it.
