If you are an avid traveler then you might have come across people or texts which refer to Paris as the love city. It is known for its preservation of culture. Also, culinary breakthroughs have been recorded in this town through history. It is good to know what to expect before you go for Paris cultural walks.

When you have basic information concerning the history, culture and people living in the city then you will not have a difficult time even if it is your first time there. French is the universal language and it helps learning a few phrases especially greeting, asking for directions or help in shopping. Fluency is not a must.

Use of restrooms outside your hotel require you to pay. Therefore, do not think that people are being rude to you if they ask for the pay. Since the rates are not high, you should ensure that you have lower denomination currency. Alternatively, you can use the washrooms before getting out of your room.

Smoking is very common in the city. A ban has been made regarding smoking in public smoking but still you will come across a number of people smoking. Non-smokers should be ready to puff some smoke clouds in the course of the walks. Parisian women are not so used to makeup. Thus, you will see many of them in their natural state. In order to blend in well, you might want to try this too.

Cultural differences should not be used to create stereotypes. Even when you think the practices are weird, the people can be friendly. Thus, take time to know strangers and get them talking. The city will soon grow into you and leaving will be very hard.

If you do not have a lot of money then hiring taxis is not something you want to do often times. The rates are high. However, the metro is cheap and easy to use if you take your time to familiarize yourself with the system. You can go everywhere in the town using the metro.

Restaurants serve French cuisine which is tasty. Also, no one will rush you to finish the meal and then leave. To note is that waiters will not bring the checks to your table. You have to request for them. You might end up lingering so long after the meals waiting for the check only to be disappointed.

Getting a guide will make the walk more interesting. You will learn a lot at the end by choosing someone who knows all about the history of Paris. The month you choose to visit Paris will influence your experiences. People who like heavy human traffic will love Paris in August. However, you should travel during the other months if you are not a fun of crowded streets and public places. You will not be disappointed for choosing to travel there since there is so much to see and learn concerning the culture.
