By Anthony Powell

Almost everybody in the world has a dream destination that they would like to visit at least once it their lifetime. For many Americans, one of the places at the top of this list is the island of Hawaii. It has many other smaller islands and locations that are excellent holiday destinations like the Big Island and Waikoloa respectively. You can be assured that any of these places chosen to visit offers a great many areas and activities for visitors and tourists.

Every year, it receives eight million visitors who love to vacation in this excellent destination. Nearly sixty percent of this number is Americans from the mainland. Many visits average between nine and ten days. They leave behind fourteen billion dollars, which is the main source of income for the government. Tourism is the main export of the state as well as the main employer of most residents. Lucky individuals get to visit a number of the islands and enjoy the activities on offer.

The weather is the main consideration in planning a vacation and choosing the destination. It is not fun to go on holiday and stay indoors for the rest of the duration due to poor weather conditions. Hawaii has excellent weather all year. The summers are dry while winters are wet. However, the temperature remains warm and steady throughout. Rain keeps it lush and green. Some spots all over the state register sunshine on a daily basis while trade winds have a cooling breeze effect.

Residents are generally very generous and welcome everybody warmly to the island. This is due to their culture that necessitates every individual to be welcoming to friends, strangers and visitors alike. Aloha spirit is a law that can be enforceable. Because many families are dependent on tourism, they tend to be warm to tourists.

There is a rich source of culture present due to the many groups of people living in this state. Every resident is considered a minority. These are the Hawaiians from Polynesia, Filipinos, Japanese, Hispanics, Chinese and Caucasians. These people came to the island originally to work on pineapple and sugarcane plantations. Almost twenty five percent of residents are of mixed ancestry.

The island has over four hundred public beaches with an incredible seven hundred and fifty miles of shoreline. In addition, there are different colored beaches with white, yellow, black, red and green sand beaches. This gives one a once in a lifetime experience. However, because of the unpredictable ocean conditions, it is best to have a lifeguard present.

The island has many different ocean activities that tourists can partake in while on vacation. These include sports like surfing, windsurfing and boogie boarding. Others include scuba diving, snuba and snorkeling. If one wants to stay dry there, are many sailing tours, zodiac raft tours, whale watches, deep-sea fishing and parasailing.

There are many traditional cuisines on offer in the island. This variety is because of the different cultures present. Some restaurants offer a special regional cuisine that is blended from other delicacies. These incorporate other ethnic flavors to come up with a rich taste. Food tours offer these foods.
