Entertainment options for Florida residents and visitors are endless. Florida's mild year round climate makes the Sunshine State the ideal destination for outdoor activities regardless of which season it happens to be. Individuals visiting the central region of the state can check out any or all of the New Tampa attractions offering entertainment for people of any age.

Anyone who enjoys outdoor recreation will find plenty to keep them occupied at Flatwoods Wilderness Park located in the New Tampa neighborhood. The park belongs to the Lower Hillsborough County Wilderness Preserve and covers nearly 5,500 acres. This outdoor space is the ideal escape from the concrete jungle offering trails, fishing, picnic areas and more.

The loop road encircles the park and represents a seven-mile trek. Rest shelters offer cool water and paper cups at four points along the paved road. Elsewhere in the park, shelters are equipped with grills and tables for outdoor meals. The park's Visitor Center provides restrooms, picnic tables, and cold drinks. Guests will find additional restrooms at the Bruce B Downs Blvd entrance. Park users have access from sunup to sundown seven days per week and are welcome to bring their dogs provided they stay on a leash.

Lowry Park Zoo is another one of many family friendly attractions near New Tampa. Multiple parents' magazines name this the best zoo in the nation with more than 60 acres of entertainment space. Guests have the chance to observe a wide variety of indigenous and exotic species from around the world. Children and their parents are welcome to pet stingrays, feed the giraffes, and participate in other fun interactive activities. Zoo inhabitants include penguins, tigers, manatees, orangutans, koalas, and much more.

The Florida Aquarium offers animal lovers another option with 250,000 square feet of exhibits. The Coral Reef Gallery allows visitors a chance to experience the wondrous sights of a 60-foot dive without even getting wet. Viewing windows offer glimpses into the various micro habitats that exist at different depths. Guests can attend a variety of educational and entertaining shows starring the aquarium's habitats or participate in one of the swim and dive experiences allowing them to jump in the water and interact with the fish.

Visitors to Bok Tower Gardens are in for a visual treat. This National Historic Landmark is the site of Pinewood Estate and the 205-foot Singing Tower, which houses a 60-bell carillon. The Mediterranean-style mansion was built during the 1930s and hosts daily tours. Visitors may also enjoy afternoon concerts at the neo-Gothic and art deco tower.

Thrill seekers who want a chance to get out on the water will have a ball at Speed Boat Adventures. This attraction allows visitors to captain a speed boat under the direction of a seasoned veteran.
