Basic Etiquette For A Yacht Charter Cruise

By Freida Michael

When going for the cruise, it is expected of you to deal with the crew members as politely as possible. Even when they are supposed to be serving you, they still deserve some respect due to them. To have a better experience with the cruise in yacht charter Oxnard, these are the simple etiquette you must take note of.

First, you must greet the crew. They are the ones who will be serving you when you are in the cruise. It would be to your advantage to ask for their permission first before you actually board the cruiser. You must let them know that you have the desire to board. This is actually a polite thing you have to do when you are cruising.

When you are wearing your street shoes, know that you have to leave them behind before boarding this boat. You have to remove them and put them in dedicated shoe baskets. Removing your shoes allow you to prevent asphalt dirt to stain the white decks. It is also a way to avoid inflicting a hole into the deck.

There will always be a pre-departure safety briefing before you start the cruise. It is imperative that you listen to the pre-departure safety briefing. Whatever you know from the said briefing can help you handle any situation that come during a cruise. You must follow the rules since they are what will keep you comfortable.

During boarding, you will be taught how to handle the basic systems on the boat. These systems include, but are not limited to, the electrical outlets, toilets, lights, water and showers, and such. Once you know how to handle the basic systems on the boat, you can avoid disrupting the daily work of the crew.

Chartering with children should be okay. However, you will be the one to take care of them. Do not ever treat the crew as your child's babysitter since this is not a part of the crew's job description. You must leave the crew members to their job. Even if they cannot take care of your child, they should still be child-friendly.

There are community spaces in the boat. Examples of them would be the saloon and main living area. Your personal items should not be left just anywhere. You must watch over them. Personal items like the towels, hats, sunglasses, toiletries, and clothing should be left in the cabin. If you bring them on deck, put them inside a small day pack.

For the cruise, rely on the rules set by the captain. You need the captain to decide if it is okay to go ahead with the cruise or if there are reasons why it should be otherwise. When the weather is bad or when time constraints prevent the compliance to schedule, the captain will suggest to not go ahead with the cruise. This is for people's safety.

Dining ashore should be possible when in the cruise. You can do it for one night. When you are dining ashore for one night, you should consider asking the captain and the crew out for a treat. This might be optional but the captain and the crew will appreciate the gesture.
